The volcanic Amber Mountain is bordered with rainforest which protects 77 species of birds, 7 species of lemurs, 24 species of amphibians and 1020 listed plant species to discover. After an immersion into the rainforest, a detour to the Red Tsingy is worthy for the picturesque view. It gives a logic introduction to another National Park called Ankarana. Well-known for its limestone massif, the mysterious “Tsingy”, and its caves sheltering half of Madagascar species of bats – up to 14 species! Ankarana National Park protects one of Madagascar’s dry deciduous forests and has a great variety of wildlife. Among other plant and animal species, it is home to 60 species of reptiles and amphibians, and 96 species of birds.
After visiting National Parks, some cultural stops are quite interesting in order to discover and why not to taste local goods. Tropical fruits and vegetables at Ambilobe open market or freshly made chocolate in Ambanja cocoa plantation.
